This beautiful newly renovated Wimbledon house had a very large garden laid to lawn with established borders and trees but very little presence in terms of a terrace/patio to connect it to the house.

The brief was to create a modern and usable space in keeping with the contemporary internal refurbishment.

Whilst sympathetic to the age of this beautiful house we chose Indian sandstone paving with inset wooden panelling and island flower beds with cloud planting to stylishly create demarcation between 3 zones of dining, sofa seating and a table tennis area to the far side.

Large terrace re-design - project underway

Wimbledon, SW19

Pleached trees flanked both sides of the terrace to create a sense of enclosure to this very large space and a covered pergola with wrap around sofa and gas fire pit took centre stage.  The desire to enclose this space was extended to the front too by low level hedging and a step down BBQ area with 2 access/egress points from and to the terrace and garden respectively.

Climbers were planted to provide a foliage covering to the back of the house to link it with the maturity of the garden planting.
