FEATURED PROJECTS
Burntwood Close, SW18
The approach here was to terrace the space to accommodate/level-out a difference in height of 1m from the back of the house to the garden room.
This enabled many new usable spaces in the garden and a gradual and interesting journey/ascent to the garden room where the aim was to 'ground' this structure within the overall design to detract from its perched dominance.
Primary and secondary dining/entertaining spaces were created with emphasis on strong geometry to move away from the kite shape of the boundaries.
WHAT
An extremely challenging but exciting project working with a very unusual shaped garden, on a hill and with a half finished garden room perched at the very top!

This was complimented with the strong spherical form of Taxus Balls for the backbone of the plants, softened with an abundance of perennials and ornamental grasses. Large natural lawn areas separate the entertaining zones edged with raised planters, which also showcase themselves from a vast amount of picture windows to the back of the house.
Pleached trees provide greenery around the garden room which has since been re-clad with a luxury Western Red Cedar and this wood has been repeated throughout the garden for feature screening, creating a sense of unity and balance with the fabric of the garden room. A bespoke outdoor kitchen with full Outdoor Grill and Green Egg consolidates a fabulous garden for the family and for wider entertaining. For completion, the house and boundary fence were painted in F&B Mouse's Back.
For the front of the house, the very awkward shaped and sloped loose gravel has been transformed into a stylish drive but with clear demarcation of drive and pathway to the house with the use of clay paver detailing. Beige sawn sandstone with bullnose profiling provides a harmonious link of materials as well as strong emphasis to the porch area. Low brick walling has been reinstated where damaged. Pockets of planting for the finishing touches have been incorporated to bring some green back to the façade of this house.
