Strathville Road, SW18

A snazzy provocative outdoor room is on the agenda here to expand on living space to the ground floor of the house.

A raised dark grey Millboard decking now leads seamlessly from the kitchen to garden to increase the dining/entertaining space when the bi-folds are fully open.  The old shed was replaced with discreet and bespoke storage tucked neatly to the side of the house.    A strong composition of plants flanking the deck gives the impression of the garden being drawn in to the house as well as a sense of edge/enclosure to this entertaining area.

WHAT

Large 600 x 900 paving leads to dark grey ‘feature’ upright posts to be planted with Calamagrostis karl foerster and Verbena bonariensis, which in turn provide a 'veil' screening to sofa seating on a raised paved terrace behind, facing an up-lit western red cedar feature panel. Gorgeous Dijon Limestone setts provide contrast, warmth and texture to a third seating/entertaining area.  All in what originally felt like a very small garden!  Just waiting for the arrival of the pleached trees to dress and soften the rear boundary.
