A family of 6 all wanting their own space and a garden to be enticed into!
Our first priority here was to re-size the lower terrace area by the kitchen doors which was far too small.
We took the opportunity of a much deeper dig-out and completely re-paved a generous sized family terrace with newly built retaining walls, raised flower beds and shallower steps, all designed in dutch clay pavers in a soft warm grey which in turn edges the paved terrace for unity of detail.
A small lawn with low maintenance planting then leads into a decorative gravel/stepping stone walk-through of shade loving plants & the existing gorgeous pleached trees that flank each side.

A bike store and corten feature bench double up as log stores to max out on storage. The existing shed was retained but painted in dark grey along with the new bike shed and existing trellis panels, to update the look. Hidden behind a small 'dividing' hedge is a fire pit area for the teenagers, and a semi covered seating area to the rear of the garden for the adults. A trampoline/climbing ladder will keep the youngest member of the family entertained until such time this part of the garden can also evolve to provide an extended entertaining/outdoor kitchen area.

We installed an L shape cantilevered half pergola with integrated lighting over our sofa seating which we would never have thought of and it looks fabulous. Tris's planting design has made all the difference too - we have a thriving garden with lots of interest year round and flowering that never seems to stop. Before Tris came on baord, it had always been a case of trial and error for us losing lots of plants and lots of money in the process! I couldn't recommend Tris highly enough - she did a fantastic job on our garden and we absolutely love it.
