The Toast Rack, SW18
This re-design was to compliment a stunning refurbishment/extension to the back of a substantial Victorian house.
A sophisticated garden was designed with modern touches, strong and colourful planting, a large lawn for sport/play and separate seating areas for varied family needs. An outdoor room/gym was an added bonus in reclaimed space!
It was evident this was once a beautifully planted garden but over many years it had simply outgrown the space creating a very dark tunnel effect of oversized shrubs en masse.

Our first port of call here was to remove an overgrown and dense towering hedge to the rear allowing us to reclaim 15sq m of lost garden. A luxury outdoor gym took its place with breakfast terrace, and the retention of a large Turkey Oak overhead.
A large lawn with generous borders will bring the maturity back to this garden and new Amelanchiers and Cornus are planted into the sides/centre of the garden to’veil’ the outdoor gym and to mark the graduation up towards the end of the garden. A large entertaining terrace adjacent to the house with a sizeable aperture bed boasts a feature tree to be admired both from the patio and from a new internal spiral staircase housed in a glass atrium. A Vistafolia wall fills the awkward space to the side of the glass atrium matching the basement well area which is also wrapped in the artificial living wall. Now just waiting for the new sofas and coffee table plus bistro table and chairs for the breakfast terrace by the gym!
